On July 3, 2007, the Long Beach City Council voted 8-1 to designate the stretch of Anaheim Street between Junipero Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard as Cambodia Town — a 1.2-mile business corridor that now carries an official city name. Long Beach is home to an estimated 19,440 to 20,000 Cambodian residents, roughly 4% of the city's total population, and is recognised as the largest concentration of Cambodians in any city outside Southeast Asia.
